When you've lived somewhere going on 6 years,
What seems... strange
(chicken wanders into the restaurant),
(plate full of rice, daal, vegetables, and goat for $1.50),
Just becomes the new normal
(people paid $3/day to get rocks out of the flowing riverbed).
What you might talk about or show pictures of to your friends back in the USA,
(technician who seems to understand the tangle of wires hangs power lines
while his friends manually pull them tightly.)
Becomes something that just is.
(cow wanders into scene)
And these two have grown up with all the strangeness just being normal.
All the while only following College Football online.

After a successful work trip in June and July,
We boarded the planes from the USA back to South Asia
And picked right back up where we left off
busy, busy, busy
Our area has had a lot of rain,
And the Ganga River in the area has displaced almost 1/2 million people.
But amidst all the rain and flooding,
There were a few days of sun for swimming,
Enjoying the wildlife close-up,
And cooling off in the mountains,
At the Taj Mahal,
And during Independence Day.
Our life has not slowed down since February when we returned to South Asia,
So we have to find time in the midst of the craziness.

We took a little longer to get back to the USA than we'd planned, thanks to the South's pesky June thunderstorms,
But we made it back eventually,
And while James and Kristie got their work done,
We all took time out to enjoy the celebrations and fun that are the Summer in the South.
Tell Us if we're missing anything:
July 4th Fireworks on a Pier
But we have finished our time here, and soon will be pulling out back to South Asia.
Thanks, as always, for your prayers.

We have to take a work trip back to the USA this month,
So we have to take a break from all our fun
Trying out our new skates,
And wearing matching outfits to church.
Oh, and James cut off his beard.
And although James wished Kristie had this reaction to his "America Face"
The truth is she was a little more excited than despairing.
So don't be shocked if you see us somewhere in your neighborhood in the coming weeks.

Last Fall, we reminisced about how great Rebekah and Reed were together.
As Reed is now almost 2,
With a LOUD, fiery personality,
Rebekah has learned how to pick at him in just the "right" way to bring on his screams.
But those moments when they're playing together,
Or disobeying together,
Make those loud moments worth it.

When we were poor Seminary Students and Kristie was working a late shift at the Psychiatric Hospital, James would sometimes pick her up with the excited news that "The light is on!" at Krispy Kreme Donuts. Two free, hot donuts were pretty much the best we could ask for.
So when the Krispy Kreme opened in Delhi a few years ago, we knew our sentimentality would most likely draw us there every time we passed through town.
And so goes one of our family traditions:
Eat American Food Whenever Available
We wear the hats and make faces at one another,
Pretend we're waiters at this fine establishment,
And eat donuts.
We're pretty sure we'll sweat it off in the summertime heat.
We're not as excited about all the American chains that come to Delhi. Rebekah has a hate-hate relationship with BK, mainly due to her loyalty to McDonalds.
If you have to travel, you might as well enjoy the American junk food along the way.
