10,000 Miles and Running (Part 2)

AND,

We've been spending our time...

Sitting in an old firetruck at a Fall Festival in Oklahoma
(which was leaking gas),

Watching James preach with Grandma in Stillwater,

Climbing trees,

Hanging with Granny and explaining what life is like in India,

Coming face-to-face with the local wildlife in Alabama
(authentic overalls required),

Celebrating Kristie's 40th birthday
(not quite 40 YET ;-)),

And riding the Komodo Dragon at the zoo in Jacksonville, Florida.

Be patient. We'll get back to you.

10,000 Miles and Running (Part 1)

Sorry if we haven't emailed you back. Or returned your text. We have been a little busy.

But it has been a fun busy, though. Seeing family and friends, and letting the kids do what every American kid should do. We're just trying to pack 4 years into 7 months.

Measuring ourself against Lottie Moon's life-size picture in Virginia
(she was a small lady),

Driving into a hurricane rain to visit friends in North Carolina,

Catching fish with Pawpaw in Mississippi,

Riding Grandpa's 4-wheeler in Oklahoma,

Visiting some cute twins (and their dog) in Edmond...

And much, much more

(to be continued)

Fall is For Football

Since most of our football for the last 5 years has been Fantasy Football or streaming NFL games on poor internet connections, we are taking advantage of being here.

Rebekah's first football game back when she was 1 was sunny and warm.

Reed's was a little colder (a lot colder), but we had a good time.

Then we had the Halloween game, where Rebekah got to march with the cheerleaders before the game,

Go on the field to greet the football players in the rain,

And almost get caught in a tornado on the way home from the game.

Then of course Kristie and James got to enjoy a Saints game (and win!).

While more expensive and so much more 'professional' feeling than college games,
it helped us complete our football gorging while we're in the USA this fall.

Who knows when our next game will be, but we're always willing to take free tickets!

Best Zoo of All?

We have travelled a lot of different places,

And our default "What to do?" is ALWAYS a zoo.

We think we found the best zoo of all, though, and it is in Oklahoma City!

Not only is it affordable and well-maintained,

But the variety of animals is great

And the Gorilla exhibit is probably nicer than any exhibit we've seen at any zoo anywhere in the world.

Making Our Rounds

2 Months

7,000 miles (and counting)

We have been busier than we thought we would be here,

But we are finding time to relax

And see our friends

Between our teaching, homeschooling,

And speaking to those of you who have been praying for us over the past 4 years.

Don't worry if we haven't seen you yet--

We have many more journeys to go before we head back to South Asia!!!

These Two Are Amazing

Growing up with brothers and sisters--or even just friends as close as siblings--is the best.

Sure, in the years to come, they will annoy each other incessantly.

But in India,

Thailand,

Or the USA,

These two love each other.

Completely.

Tigers Eat Babies in Thailand

We were not impressed by the way the THOUSANDS of crocodiles the Tiger Zoo in Thailand were treated,

But most of the Tigers seemed to be treated well

(other than the drugged adult tiger with whom you could take your picture--we declined)

(Although the "experiment of tiger cubs nursing off pig mothers to make them more docile seemed a little Frankensteinish.)

But the baby tigers were definitely not drugged or docile...

As Reed almost discovered!

After the Incident of the Almost Missing Baby Fingers,

Reed kept his distance from the Baby Tigers.

Although for the $1 a bottle of milk cost, Rebekah insisted on feeding,

 Feeding,

And feeding the Baby Tigers repeatedly.

(DISCLAIMER: Reed was never actually in danger of losing his fingers; Grandparents and Grandparent-Types can stay calm.)

(Hurry Up, Then) Rest

Yeah, our presence online has been pretty scarce for 3 or 4 months.
We had to pack up our apartment in South Asia,
Go to a bunch of meetings,
Fly back to the USA,

And for the past month we have been trying to REST.

Sitting around the yard each morning,

Not wearing our shirts, and eating whatever we want,

Eating on the couch while watching TV,

Hanging out in our new apartment,

Doing a little bit of work,

Waiting on football season,

Swimming (a LOT of swimming),

And working on our tans.
