Diwali, Revisited

From our first month here in our sleepy little town,

We have been "living" the South Asian holidays.

Knowing how much a Westerner could (or should) participate in the celebratory activities, seeing that most of them originated in the worship of Hindu gods, is difficult.

Of course we enjoy the lights hung all over town (including on our building here),

And one thing we feel very comfortable participating in is the FIREWORKS!

Rebekah and her friends held the sparklers for us,

While the fathers lit up the fountains and spinning firecrackers.

(Oh, the line of danger fathers put themselves in by lighting poorly made fireworks.)

And in the end we had happy little girls,

And the streets of our city were full of remains the next morning.
