(End of) Summer #2 Fun: Naval Aviation Museum

We were ready for a big beach blowout in Pensacola over Labor Day weekend, but a constant drizzle kept us away from the beach for our end-of-summer fun. We made the most of the weather, though, by visiting the Naval Aviation Museum, where Rebekah's "inner pilot" made its way out (as long as she stayed awake--it's a big museum, and we didn't even choose to follow the 3-hour tour from the volunteer tour-guide).

Rebekah enjoyed sitting in all the Navy planes.

Even sizing up one of the Navy's Blue Angels.

But wasn't too happy when James moved her out of the pilot's seat.

And she was able to practice her ship-driving skills.

After receiving her dog-tags, though, Rebekah peacefully faded into Baby Dreamland,
where ocean waves and gliding planes constantly fill baby sleep.

Playing Dress-Up

Our little girl is such a Princess, but she still has the fashion sense of James. Hopefully Kristie can teach her how to properly wear clothes by the time she's two or three. Here are some examples of her totally spontaneous fashion faux pas:

Skirt on the Head

Basketball Shorts as a Toga

Toys Links on Feet (just b/c they'll fit)

Socks, Diaper, & a Monkey Shirt--no pants?

Mama's Extensive Bracelet Collection on Her Ankles

New at the Zoo

Rebekah is very familiar with the Hattiesburg Zoo. Many improvements are being made at the zoo, and she is aware of more and more things every time she goes.

She was amazed by the old monkey hiding in the cage...

Unafraid of the two big alligators sleeping only feet away...

Very proud of the fat prairie dogs scurrying in and out of their holes...

And excited to be seen next to the strangely appealing 1-month beard on her father.

Summer #2 Fun: The Lake

Having experienced her average-sized pool as well as the mini-pool at her grandparents' house, Rebekah also experienced what, to her, was just a big pool--at least that's what we called Lake Sardis.

She was very excited to begin the day, despite the triple-digit temperatures and the unrelenting sun.

Rebekah switched between playing in the water, drinking apple juice, and jumping off the boat into the lake for a couple hours.

Rebekah was soon ready to end her lake adventure, though. She didn't tell us as much, but something about the way she was acting...

More Toys

A few weeks ago, Rebekah heard a flood was coming, so she tossed all the animals out of her Noah's Ark replica and put her dolls inside.

After thinking about it for a few minutes, though, the baby dolls got the boot and Rebekah sized up the boat for herself.

Rebekah is still into organizing things. Don't get us wrong--she destroys the apartment daily, but she always manages to bring some order within the chaos.

In the numerous toys she's been given, she realized she had several "breeds" of horses. She was very excited and proud of herself when she lined them all up recently.
