Golden Eagle Fan Fare

Since Rebekah hasn't been able to make any of the Southern Miss Football games since she was born (we're still thinking about this season's schedule), we wanted to let her get some up-close contact with Coach Fedora and the players.

We weren't really required to sit so far up in the stands. We did get a chance to wander around on the floor with the coaches and players for a while.

Although during that time, Rebekah seemed much less impressed by Coach Fedora and the players than Kristie was.

We're not sure who taught her, but she had the cheerleader claps going every time people started cheering.

Toys: Where Does She Get This Stuff?

Rebekah does some funny things with her toys--things we definitely haven't taught her. Just small examples of the mind of her own.

Rebekah used to love off-brand Cheerios, but now she seems much more determined to feed them to her baby.

We're not sure why she would think the mom would sit in the stroller while rocking the baby.

The giraffe from the Audubon Zoo was apparently cornered by the two giraffes from Noah's Ark.

The next day Noah's crew of thug giraffes brought out the muscle, though--the Jacksonville Zoo giraffe.

Summer #2 Fun: "Either I'm Getting Bigger..."

"... or these pools are getting smaller."

Rebekah was amazed when her eyes first gazed upon the little plastic pool filled with 3 inches of water.

As with most new people and things she experiences, she was a little tentative.

But it didn't take long for the jumping,

and general enjoyment to begin.

Ms. Organization

Despite how our floor looks most of the time she's awake, with Rebekah's toys and clothes spread all over, Rebekah actually knows how to clean up. Deep down, we know she's a bit OCD about things being in order and clean.

After taking the DVD's off their shelf, she then proceeds to line them up evenly...

 ... or stack them up.

She also likes to line up her stuffed animals as she plays with them.

And when she sees us cleaning around the house or emptying the dishwasher, she has to run over and help us.

Summer #2 Fun: The Audubon Aquarium

Having gone to the Audubon Zoo already, we decided to further contribute to Audubon's cause by taking in their indoor spectacle in New Orleans, the Aquarium. Located just on the edges of the Mississippi River and the French Quarter, the Aquarium provided Rebekah with more stimulus than she could handle between the tanks full of fish and the large groups of summer-camp kids.

Rebekah and the Bear (8/8/10)

We heard the other day that parents should take pictures of their child every day during the first year of her life because they are changing so quickly. Judging by the number of gigabytes Rebekah is taking up on our Mac, we have taken thousands of pictures in her first 17 months.

Rebekah's pictures with her Bear have been an opportunity to see some of that change occurring. Remember this Rebekah?

3 Days Old

3 Months Old

We are glad we have so many friends with children a little older, the same age, or younger than Rebekah. This month one of Rebekah's buddies has joined her with a bear of her own. Charli is only 15 days old in this picture.

Summer #2 Fun: Chalk

Chalk is cheap (20 sticks for $1!). We like cheap fun, and Rebekah loves chalk. Although it gets messy and we have fits when we have to come in from the balcony, we have let Rebekah play with quite a bit of colored chalk this summer.

She will insist on holding as much chalk as she can at any given time, so we usually have to limit her to 3 pieces.

Although we used to worry about the second-story balcony, we're not too worried now. Rebekah's head is much too big to fit through the bars. (But just for your reassurance, no babies were harmed in the taking of these pictures.)

Summer #2 Fun: (Can't Get Enough of) The Pool

Rebekah loves swimming. Even on freezing Saturday mornings, after we're ready to go and have her halfway undressed, Rebekah still insisted on getting back in the water.
