Welcome Charli!

Justin and Ashli, who have seen how cute babies can be during their time with Rebekah, welcomed in their own little girl on Saturday. We look forward to watching the family experience all kinds of baby-induced lessons in the coming years.

Summer #2 Fun: The Audubon Experience, Part 2

We let Rebekah come into close contact with several child-friendly animals on our trip to the Audubon Zoo. Apparently she's much more afraid of men with beards (who isn't, right?) than lizards, snakes, or goats.

Totally unphased by the day-long scorching heat or impending afternoon thunderstorm, Rebekah left with a smile on her face, not realizing she needed a nap until the car ride home.

Summer #2 Fun: Cafe Du Monde

Although the weather was typically sticky & scorching on this particular trip to New Orleans, we still wanted to expose Rebekah to the city (or the city to Rebekah, whichever you prefer). Along with the French Market, we fed Rebekah some of Cafe Du Monde's hot powder-sugared-covered beignets.

Since she'll eat almost anything we offer her, whether sweet, spicy, or sour, she had no problem falling in love with the delicious bread.

Rebekah and the Bear (7/7/10)

Rebekah is going strong at 16 months, with her ever-growing vocabulary amazing us. We are--like most first-time parents, I'm sure--amazed at her recall. Despite having dozens of books, if you ask for a certain book she'll dig through her baskets of books until she finds the one you asked for. Sometimes she takes one nap a day, sometimes she still needs two. We recently made another trip to New Orleans and took in the French Market, where Rebekah picked up this fancy shirt, which she models below with her big bear.

Summer #2 Fun: The Audubon Experience, Part 1

We know Rebekah loves the Hattiesburg Zoo, so this summer we ventured out to a "real" zoo (the Hattiesburg Zoo is real, but only costs $2 for adults, so you don't feel like you've been to the typical $15/person, $5/Coke Zoo), traveling to New Orleans Audubon Zoo.

There is so much to see at the Zoo, you can hardly take it all in during one day, especially with two little kids taking everything in.

Rebekah was excited to see all the animals, ride the train, and go round-and-round on the carousel.

The gorilla didn't seem too happy to see us all, but his keepers say that's just his mean face for the crowd.

There was a lot more that we saw, and we'll post more on our zoo trip later...

Shoes

We saw Rebekah trying on James' shoes a couple months ago, and it seems this fascination was just beginning. Rebekah soon began trying on Kristie's shoes as well.

And most days, at some point, Rebekah gets out all her shoes and we have a runway show, complete with pajama tops and diaper.
