2009 Summer Fun #1: The Dog Park

With the longer days, the lack of anything interesting on television, and Kristie's normal work schedule with her new position, we've been spending a lot of time outside in the evenings. We hung out one night last week at the dog park. No dogs were around for Kosi to play with, but it was a chance for Rebekah to show off one of the dozens of cute outfits various family members have bought for her.

Rebekah and the Bear (6/24/09)

We've had some good times this week, with the long days and absence of rain. Rebekah is still pretty much the perfect child, although she's learned to screech when she doesn't like something. Hopefully that won't last.

As you can see in the pics, Rebekah REALLY likes to chew on her fingers. She has become pretty self-aware of her different body parts and reaches for things she wants to play with, and has started playing with some of her toys without prompting.

Rebekah's Travels

Although a little late, here is the promised chronicle of Rebekah's travels in May to Florida, Tennessee, Tupelo, New Orleans, Shreveport, Monroe, and Oklahoma!

Rebekah and the Bear (6/17/09)

We were excited that Southern Mississippi made the College World Series, and we all dressed up for their game. Unfortunately, they lost their first two games in the double-elimination tournament--but they made it! Plus Rebekah got to wear her cool hat with the feather!

Rebekah has been spending the mornings this week in childcare as James helps out with Vacation Bible School at our church. She's winning everyone at the church over with her over-developed social skills (for a 3-month old).

Rebekah and the Bear (6/10/09)

Rebekah's newest hobby is sitting up and people- or tv-watching, especially since she's holding her (big) head up with no problem.

The pictures from our May travels are coming, but taking care of Rebekah is pretty time consuming and combined with James' easily distracted psyche, it has been delayed... but it's coming.

As of last Thursday afternoon, Rebekah is 9 lbs. and 11.5 ounces, between 23 and 24 inches long. Doctor isn't worried about her small weight (she's in the bottom 5% weight of babies her age) at all, though. She's just long and thin.

Since coming home from the hospital, Rebekah has slept at night in a swaddle. She thinks it's torture if she's not tired, but slip her in it between 9 and 10 PM and she's content to lay around like a caterpillar until morning.

Rebekah and the Bear (and the dog) (6/4/09)

Rebekah is getting used to her daddy taking care of her during the day since Kristie went back to work! She's growing up so fast--she laughs, talks almost constantly, sleeps in the crib all night, swims, grabs people's hair! Her latest weight update, from last week, is 9 pounds and 9 ounces and 23 inches (approximately the same size as the dog!)! She's finally outgrowing Newborn diapers, and fitting into her 0-3 months clothes.
