The Dog

Kosi, our Chihuahua-Beagle Mix (yes, a Cheagle)--the good looks of a Chihuahua and the personality of a Beagle

Koko and Cepane (Che-Bonnie), our 60 lb. Chow/Doberman attack dogs

Many people were a little concerned with how the dog, Kosi, would react to Rebekah. We may have been a little concerned with how our farm dogs who moved to James's parents house in Oklahoma when we moved to Hattiesburg would have been, but Kosi has been Rebekah's biggest fan.

This is how James often finds the three girls when he comes home from work: the dog guarding Kristie and the baby. If you ask Kosi where the baby is, she'll search the crib, car carrier, and couches until she finds Rebekah.

Rebekah and the Bear (3/25/09)

We can't really tell Rebekah's size changes this week, but we're with her every day. Can you tell any differences? Post comments below.

Yeah, we're not always happy when we take a picture with this monstrous stuffed animal.

Rebekah and the Bear (3/18/09)

Rebekah loves to stretch out those legs these days. Swaddling doesn't work too well with this squirmy little girl.

Baby, by popular demand

Due to the excessive demand to see one of the cutest children on the Earth, we post the following.

Flying on Friday the 13th

As I wait to fly out to Rome this morning, a thought occurred to me: Does my superstition quotient rise to the level of actually letting the convergence of day (Friday) and date (the 13th) dampen my view of the potential safety of travel on that day?

I believe in the interaction of the physical and metaphysical worlds as much as the next guy, but I don't see why a date on the Gregorian calendar (or a black cat, a ladder, or a broken mirror) holds any more significance than what I ate for dinner last night or the price of matooke in Uganda. In many respects, I suppose I am a person of science, for my faith doesn't extend into the Hocus Pocus arena.

Rebekah and the Bear (3/11/09)

As promised, here is the update of the size comparisons. We've added a purple goat (or sheep, I can't tell) that Mrs. Kim gave Rebekah for a little more perspective.

Rebekah and the Bear (3/4/09)

DISCLAIMER: Although she appears to be on a very precipitous edge, no babies were harmed in the taking of this photo.

Since it's amazing how small babies are (as well as how ridiculously large some stuffed animals are) and how fast they grow, we'll be posting weekly updates of Rebekah and the Bear for all to see.

The Hospital

Hospitals aren't usually considered fun places to spend time. Sleeping in fancy mechanical beds that cost as much as a car or sleeping on floral-pattered chairs that pull out into beds
can never match your own bed. Plus you're surrounded by sickness.

But like all good medicine, putting up with the bad sometimes leads to the good.
